As many of us are aware, regular screening for cancer is something we should all carefully consider.

Checking our body before symptoms appear may help detect breast, cervical and colorectal (colon) cancers early, when treatment is likely to work best. Lung cancer screening is also recommended for some people who are at high risk. We offer a range of cancer screening tests and diagnostics to screen and detect cancer for both men and women:

Cervical smears and HPV

The Pap test (cervical smear) can find abnormal cells in the cervix which may turn into cancer, whilst the HPV test looks for the virus (human papillomavirus).

Both are regarded as important, however, HPV is now seen as especially useful in predicting cervical cancer risk. We offer both the HPV and endocervical cancer smear test.

Results are returned quickly and are totally confidential.

GP consultation cost and examination is £55.

Laboratory costs for cell and HPV analysis is £125.
The total cost for a private smear is £180.

HPV Test
A number of HPV tests are available:

GP consultation cost and examination is £55.
HPV /HR DNA Type 16, 18 + others  £57.

HPV DNA types 16, 18 + collective reporting of 12 other High Risk DNA Subtypes £57.

A PSA test is a blood test that can help diagnose prostate cancer. If results show a raised level of PSA in the blood, further tests may be required to determine the cause. A raised PSA level can indicate other non-cancer related conditions such as an enlarged prostate.

You have a higher risk of prostate cancer if you have a family history of prostate cancer, are of black origin or are obese/overweight.

If you’re a healthy male over 50, you may choose to have a PSA test just to put your mind at rest.

You may also wish to consider our wellman health screen which includes a PSA Test.

The consultation cost is £55.00 and the cost of a PSA test is £73.00.

Early CDT - Lung test

Early CDT-Lung test is a blood test which can help detect lung cancer in it’s early stages. The test works by detecting auto antibodies produced by the body to fight cancerous tumours. These antibodies can be detected up to four years before a clinical cancer diagnosis is possible*.

Research has shown that Early CDT screening in high risk patients can save lives**.

Results of this simple blood test are returned within seven days.

An Early CDT lung test can be carried out by one of our highly qualified GPs within a 20 minute GP consultation.

If you are at high risk of developing lung cancer, you may want to consider the Early CDT test. It may be that you are a smoker, have a family history of lung cancer, have been exposed to high levels of air pollution or chemicals such as asbestos through your work.

You may also wish to consider our Lung Health Check-up which includes an EarlyCDT- Lung Test and a spirometry (lung function).

The consultation cost is £55.
The Early CDT- Lung test cost is £154.

Ovarian cancer - CA125

Early detection is key to ovarian cancer survival rates. The symptoms can be similar to other more common conditions and so it can go undiagnosed for some time.

A CA125 blood test, measures the levels of CA125 in your blood. CA125 is a protein which is associated with ovarian cancer. High levels can indicate ovarian cancer, although this is not always the case and it can be associated with other conditions such as endometriosis and fibroids.

The consultation cost is £55.
The CA125 test cost is £96.

Our wellwoman over 45 health screen provides a full GP assessment, examination, blood tests and includes the CA125 test and full medical report.

You may also wish to consider the CA125/HE4 combined test.

HE4 is a new marker for ovarian cancer; high levels are seen in those with ovarian cancer.

When HE4 is combined with CA125, it increases the sensitivity for finding ovarian cancer.

ROMA – a risk of ovarian malignancy algorithm – classifies patients as being at high or low risk of the disease using both the CA 125 and HE4 results.

  • The consultation cost is £55.
  • The HE4 ROMA cost is £105.
